Cleveland Clinic
Top medical clinic’s mobile app meets PHI security and compliance requirements
“We want to focus on what we do best, which is taking care of patients. What we should not be doing is recreating the wheel on our own when it comes to technology, security, and privacy.”
To better monitor and understand patient brain health, Cleveland Clinic, a leading nonprofit multispecialty academic medical center, created a mobile app called “Healthy Brains.” The clinic developed the application using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its suite of services, but brought in third-party partner ClearDATA to ensure that PHI security and compliance requirements were met. Armed with HITRUST certification and expertise in healthcare and AWS, ClearDATA was able to map the AWS services to the necessary requirements and provide a secure, custom solution that lowered the provider’s operating costs and sped time to market.
Benefits:
- PHI security and compliance
- Safe and secure multivariant data collection
- Leveraged cloud technology to drive innovation
- Increased speed to market
- Lower operating costs
Genoa Healthcare®
Leading pharmacy and telepsychiatry services for community mental health centers provider scales with agility in the cloud.
“ClearDATA stood out because of the Compliance Dashboard and the ability to see at a glance where we’re compliant and where we have an issue.” – John McConnell, Chief Information Officer
The challenge for Genoa was rapid growth – adding 50 pharmacies a year, now with more than 400 sites in 46 states. They work with 1 million prescriptions a month. Their success was causing them to realize dangerous limitations in scaling, and concerns over security and compliance. In addition, they were in acquisition phase and wanted to bring in three new companies/products but had concerns over their systems, compliance and security. To migrate, they needed to find a healthcare professional who could help them with an extensive data analysis including factoring in their data warehouse and core pharmacy app, all with a minimum of downtime. ClearDATA’s healthcare expertise coupled with its HITRUST certification and Compliance Dashboard gave Genoa the expert partner they needed on their cloud journey, along with 24/7 visualization into their compliance stature.
Benefits:
- Successful migration of core business app
- Increased PHI security and compliance
- Allocating more server space takes minutes not months
- Relentless uptime for better patient services
- Continuous compliance monitoring

CarePayment
Payer moves to cloud-based infrastructure to reduce costs and improve efficiency
“I want to reduce our spend and move toward more of a Platform as a Service (PaaS) architecture. If I don’t have to manage external services, I can use our dollars to deliver business value. The cloud gives me flexibility.”
CarePayment, a provider of patient finance solutions to hospitals, physician practices, and ancillary service providers, is always looking for new ways to reduce costs and improve efficiencies. The company knew the financial and competitive advantages to shifting its infrastructure from a CapEx model to a cloud-based OpEx model, but it wanted to make the move incrementally. The company’s goal was to slowly work toward a Platform as a Service (PaaS) architecture, starting with building a cloud-first infrastructure. Because CarePayment’s team was already comfortable working in a Microsoft environment, leadership decided to utilize Azure cloud services and was happy with the results. However, the payer still needed protection for its sensitive data sitting in the cloud as well as HITRUST certification assurances for its customer base. CarePayment turned to ClearDATA, a HITRUST certified organization, to handle all of CarePayment’s infrastructure security, management, and architecture; compliance to HIPAA and other regulations; and the secure operational running of their applications. The partnership has allowed CarePayment to reap all of the cost and efficiency benefits of moving to the cloud, while maintaining the level of security and compliance needed to meet client obligations and protect its business.
Benefits:
- Ability to scale to meet business needs
- Reduced IT spend
- Improved operational performance
- Secure and protected PHI data
- HIPAA compliance

OneMedNet
Patient care vastly improved through innovation in medical imaging data exchange
“By focusing on creating intelligent care solutions for patients and providers, and by partnering with healthcare technology experts like ClearDATA, OneMedNet has been able to lower the cost of healthcare by generating and sending secure studies.”
OneMedNet Corporation, a technology service provider specializing in medical imaging, was looking for new ways to improve the quality of care by allowing radiologists to view radiology studies prior to a patient visit. The challenge was that providers didn’t have proven ways to connect to the system and view the images securely, making it difficult to maintain privacy and meet regulatory requirements. After teaming up with ClearDATA™, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Premier Consulting Partner, OneMedNet was able to offer highly secure, direct access to the AWS API, allowing customers to have full control of their environments while mitigating data breach and permission risks. The resulting technological innovation has not only improved the quality of patient care by providing quick and secure access to health data, but it has also made a significant impact on patient satisfaction by providing access to previously unreachable services and second opinions.
Benefits:
- More efficient and secure workflow for all stakeholders
- Exceeded regulatory framework requirements
- Improved patient care and satisfaction
- Increased provider productivity
- Lower healthcare costs for patients and provider
BehaVR
Healthcare innovator stays competitive by utilizing emerging technologies while outsourcing security and compliance
“ClearDATA brings a lot to the table in terms of structure and process. Both their expertise around compliance and the innovation they bring to that realm lets us continue to leverage the latest technologies like VR and machine learning in order to improve behavioral health and help make an impact in people’s lives today.”
Using a technology toolbox of virtual reality (VR), biometrics, and data-driven algorithms, BehaVR is an industry innovator with its sights set on improving behavioral health and reducing the skyrocketing costs of chronic disease in the U.S. The company, founded three years ago, offers VR-based programs that can help patients reduce stress, make healthier lifestyle choices, and minimize the effects of chronic pain. In the early years of development, BehaVR’s team leveraged its expertise in cloud computing, machine learning, and analytics to build its application in the Microsoft Azure cloud. Although the company initially managed security and compliance on its own, BehaVR soon realized it needed a partner to handle this aspect of its technology if it wanted to stay competitive and economically viable. BehaVR decided to partner with ClearDATA because of its unique expertise in both healthcare compliance and cloud technologies. ClearDATA now manages the compliance and security of BehaVR’s Azure services, enabling the development team to focus on which Azure technologies will help them bring the most benefit from emerging technologies. The result for BehaVR is a platform with interoperability built in, differentiating them in the market as they lead a convergence of data, cloud computing, analytics, machine learning, and VR to benefit the patients they serve.

CareCloud
Healthcare tech company outsources security and compliance to focus on innovation
“Now our DevOps team can focus more on getting software solutions in test and production versus building compliance solutions. There’s a lot of peace of mind from both software engineering and DevOps knowing something can’t be errantly deployed in a non-compliant way.”
When CareCloud first developed its Breeze technology solution, the goal was to make life easier for medical practitioners and their patients. With a single login, the comprehensive platform allows patients to remotely approve and update their records and personal information, and it allows support staff and nurses to automate scheduling, form distribution and completion, and payment. Originally, when CareCloud brought their solutions to market, the company used a co-located data center, managed their own servers, and constantly monitored their environment for security and compliance. This put a huge strain on its IT resources and took time away from product development. To improve efficiency, CareCloud leveraged cloud computing and created a hybrid solution of Amazon Web Services and built add-on compliant services. However, it soon became clear that a managed service provider was the only way the company could keep up with security demands and evolving compliance requirements. Teaming up with ClearDATA provided CareCloud with all the services and resources it needed: comprehensive, extended HIPAA Business Associate Agreements (BAA), hardened images, proven encryption solutions, automated security and compliance tools, and HITRUST certification. With its security and compliance needs met, the company is now refocusing its resources back to R&D and exploring innovative technologies like multi-cloud environments and Kubernetes to better serve its customer base.
Benefits:
- Automated security and compliance safeguards
- Proof of compliance HITRUST certification
- Reduced risk and error
- Faster deployment
- Ability to innovate and scale to meet business needs
InfoBionic
Digital health company with cloud-based medical device uses advanced technologies in a secure, compliant manner
“Our partnership with ClearDATA will be one of the key enablers for us to go global and maintain that level of assurance in security and protection of patient information.”
InfoBionic is a digital health company transforming the efficiency and economics of ambulatory remote patient monitoring processes and cardiac diagnostic services by optimizing clinical and real-world utility for the users that need it most – physicians and their patients. InfoBionic was faced with the predicament of being a small, early-stage medical device innovator with a cloud-based device—MoMe® Kardia—that transforms healthcare delivery for patients with cardiac diagnostic devices by leveraging advanced technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence from AWS. With its collection of cloud-based and sensitive data, InfoBionic needed air-tight security and compliance measures. However, InfoBionic lacked the internal expertise and resources to use these advanced technologies in a secure, compliant manner. The leadership sought out the ClearDATA Healthcare Compliance and Security Platform® to provide direct access to the cloud with automated safeguards and remediation. By forging a partnership with ClearDATA on AWS, Infobionic’s leadership was able to pivot full attention to the honing of their own medical devices technology, trusting the management of cloud services, security, compliance and privacy to the ClearDATA team.
Benefits:
- Securing and protecting PHI
- HIPAA compliance
- Dev team can focus on honing medical device technology
- Leverage advanced technologies to drive business innovation
Santéch
SaaS company improves customer experience by offering HIPAA compliant cloud hosting
“It was crystal clear to us that it wasn’t economically feasible to build our own cloud-hosting infrastructure when we looked at what we would need in terms of real estate, software, and hardware.”
Santéch’s web-based solutions and services are designed to help payers, hospitals, and practices transform their provider and network management capabilities. Although the majority of its customers host Santéch’s data management platform on-premise, a growing number were showing interest in contracting it out so they could focus more on core competencies. Santéch wanted to meet its customer needs, yet the SaaS company knew it wasn’t economically feasible to build its own cloud-hosting infrastructure. After researching its options, Santéch brought in a third-party partner that has in-depth knowledge of the cloud and understands the specialized security and compliance needs of the healthcare industry. Working closely with ClearDATA, Santéch is now able to offer its clients a fully HIPAA compliant cloud hosting infrastructure. This enables Santéch to be a better partner to its healthcare customers and continually improve its data management solutions.
